RENO, Nev. (Feb. 27, 2007) — PC-Doctor Inc. (www.pc-doctor.com) today announced the first integrated suite of hardware diagnostics, system information tools and test devices for personal computers that supports the newly introduced Microsoft Windows Vista operating system.
Available now from the global leader in PC hardware health, PC-Doctor Service Center™ 6 is a complete and up-to-date solution used by service technicians, repair depots, IT organizations and others who are responsible for fixing and supporting PCs. In addition to its support for Windows Vista, the solution supports earlier versions of the Microsoft operating system and also includes bootable low-level diagnostics that can be used without Windows and even without a hard drive.
Service Center 6 is based on the same flagship diagnostic tests and system information tools that HP, Lenovo and others use to assure manufacturing quality and also bundle on their systems to support end-users, said Doug van Aman, PC-Doctor’s chief marketing officer. It’s designed to help reduce the cost of service delivery by shortening repair times, improving first-time-fix rates, cutting no-trouble-found rates on components, and eliminating wasteful part-swapping.
It also includes powerful scripting capabilities and additional tools that system builders, hobbyists and other low-volume PC makers can use to cut out-of-box-failure rates on systems before they are put into use, Roberts added.
The 300-plus diagnostic tests and comprehensive system information in Service Center 6 are available in about 10 seconds, and are accessed through an easy-to-use, intuitive graphical user interface. In addition to diagnostics that run in Windows Vista, XP, Server 2003 and 2000, Service Center 6 includes low-level diagnostics, based on DOS, which can be booted from the Diagnostic CD or from the new Multipurpose USB Device when Windows is unavailable.
Based on patented PC-Doctor technology, the new Multipurpose USB Device also provides test progress indicators, which is ideal for testing multiple systems using a Keyboard, Video, Mouse (KVM) switch, and acts as a USB test device. Other hardware test devices in the kit include PCI POST card, power supply tester, network loopback device, and test devices for game, serial, audio, and parallel ports.
Once the diagnostics have been run, the software can print a report that details devices tested and test results, which helps increase customer satisfaction by improving user confidence in repairs.
