New OS Support Allows Test of Hardware in Pre-Boot Mode
INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, Taiwan (April 10-11, 2006) — PC-Doctor, Inc. today announced availability of diagnostics for the Microsoft Windows® Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE), which expands the choice of test environments available to factories, service organizations, end-users and others.

PC-Doctor for Windows PE diagnostics do not rely on the installed operating system and can be used to test hardware when the main operating system is corrupt or unavailable, even without a hard drive or other storage device.

"Windows PE is an important alternative to DOS as a diagnostic environment," said Ken Sheppard, PC-Doctor’s chief technology officer. "It’s another solution that can reduce warranty costs for manufacturers through reductions of No Trouble Found (NTF) returns and Out Of Box Failures (OOBFs). Additionally, it can be used by service technicians and call center representatives to reduce the time it takes to diagnose a problem and improve first-time-fix rates."

PC-Doctor for Windows PE diagnostics is part of PC-Doctor’s family of pre-boot diagnostic products, which also includes DOS-based products. "Windows PE expands our product offering and gives our customers an additional avenue for diagnostic support in the pre-boot mode," said Doug van Aman, PC-Doctor’s chief marketing officer.
