Operating System Support Information
PCs and PC-like devices run many different operating systems and applications. PC-Doctor diagnostic software takes full advantage of the strengths and opportunities provided by these diverse environments by offering products specifically designed for each of them. We support the environments that are important to you, so if you need comprehensive testing in Linux or any version of Windows, if you want to test independently of the installed operating system, or if you want to test a bare motherboard, PC-Doctor offers the software for you!
Windows
All PC-Doctor products for Windows operate with all current versions of the Windows operating system (Vista, XP, and Server 2003). All products run in a very small footprint, using less than half the disk and memory space of previous versions. They start up quickly and are ready to test in as little as 3 seconds. Two products also test in Windows 2000, and legacy support for Windows ME, 98, and NT is available upon request.
One product is designed specifically to allow non-technical consumers to perform thorough hardware checks of Windows XP Media Center Edition PCs. This software can be customized to provide a list of codes that the consumer can give to the manufacturer to remedy problems quickly. It can be displayed on a television screen and operated with a remote control.

Windows PE
Windows PE (Pre-installation Environment) is used by several PC-Doctor products that are bundled on PCs, laptops, and servers. Since testing does not rely on the installed operating system, hardware can be tested when the main operating system is corrupt or unavailable, even without a hard drive or other storage device.
Windows PE products reduce No Trouble Found (NTF) rates, reduce support call volume, shorten technical support calls, and reduce warranty costs for PC manufacturers and system suppliers.
Linux
PC-Doctor’s industry-standard hardware diagnostics are available in this powerful, royalty free operating system. All PC-Doctor Linux products provide automated testing, detailed system information, simultaneous testing of multiple devices, and device-specific testing. Versions are available for factory, consumer, enterprise and pre-boot applications. All PC-Doctor Linux products are available for 32-bit and 64-bit processors from Intel and AMD.
PC-Doctor Linux products offer multiple user interfaces, including graphical, text mode, and command line. They can be integrated with other user interfaces or applications using the Advanced Services API (ASAPI). PC-Doctor’s Diagnostic API (DAPI) can also be used to add new test modules to increase test coverage.

DOS
Using the venerable DOS operating system provides PC-Doctor for DOS and PC-Doctor Service Center with several distinct advantages. The diagnostics and system information tools can directly access hardware devices in ways not possible in Windows. The operating system and diagnostics have such a small footprint that they both fit on a single diskette.
PC-Doctor DOS products can test PCs via a bootable diskette, CD, disk partition, or USB device, even when a system cannot boot to the installed operating system. These products are used by service technicians, service and repair centers, PC and PC-type manufacturers and end users. Users can choose between an intuitive graphical interface and command line operation. Powerful scripting capabilities make PC-Doctor for DOS a popular choice for high-volume PC manufacturing and service organizations.
