Software Engineer I Job Description

The Software Engineer I is responsible for developing and maintaining company software.

Job Responsibilities

  • Learn company product and development processes
  • Provide hands-on development of new software for cutting edge hardware
  • Implement software engineering processes and methodologies
  • Debug complex software problems and maintain multi platform source code
  • Independently learn and apply new software techniques and programming languages
  • Proactively and effectively communicate with employees and others
  • Create well-written and comprehensive documentation, including process descriptions and multi-platform technical specifications
  • Other special projects and/or duties as assigned
  • Travel up to 25%, based on business needs

Requirements Include

  • BS degree plus strong academic record or professional software development experience
  • Exceptional programming skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge of PC hardware and firmware
  • Ability to quickly learn PC-Doctor product features and capabilities
  • Strong initiative and sense of responsibility, with ability to work independently or collaboratively
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work cooperatively within a dynamic environment

Preferred knowledge/experience/ability in the following areas may include:

Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Rack, Rspec, Cucumber, BDD, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery, Prototype), user interface design, Postgresql, Data structure design, Amazon Web Services, Debian Linux, Mac OS

Senior Software Engineer Job Description

The Senior Software Engineer develops and maintains company software, provides technical leadership to Software Engineers, and designs and implements software architectures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on development of new software for cutting edge hardware
  • Provide technical leadership to Software Engineer I and II employees and teams
  • Lead implementation of software engineering processes and methodologies
  • Interface with others to design and implement software architectures
  • Independently learn and apply new software techniques and programming languages
  • Proactively and effectively communicate with employees and clients as a technical liaison
  • Create well-written and comprehensive documentation, including process descriptions and multi-platform technical specifications
  • Other special projects and/or duties as assigned
  • Travel up to 35%, based on business needs

Requirements Include

  • MS degree in Computer Science or related studies, plus at least three years of professional software development experience
  • Exceptional programming skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge of PC hardware and firmware
  • Ability to quickly learn PC-Doctor product features and capabilities
  • Strong initiative and sense of responsibility, with ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to provide technical leadership, and work cooperatively within a dynamic environment
