Knowledge Base - Windows System Crash (BSoD) when Hard Drive Pattern Test Run
- Applies To: PC-Doctor Service Center, PC-Doctor Service Center Remote
We have been made aware that on Microsoft Windows 10 systems that have the Symantec PGP Whole Disk Encryption (PGPWDED) driver version 10.2.0 installed, a Windows BSoD error will occur when running the optional "Pattern Test" under Hard Drive in the Storage Section of Service Center 12.
We were able to reproduce this issue with Symantec PGP Whole Disc Encryption driver version 10.2.0 but are currently unable to verify impact for devices running any other verison of the Symantec PGP Whole Disc Encryption software.
At this time there is no viable workaround for running the "Pattern Test" on devices using the Symantec PGP Whole Disk Encryption software. The best solution is to simply avoid running the "Pattern Test" on these devices.
