Frequently Asked Question - Will testing damage any hardware or destroy any files?
Will testing damage any hardware or destroy any files?
PC-Doctor tests are generally designed to not harm your hardware. Two tests may destroy data under certain circumstances:
- The floppy drive write and read test destroys data on the inserted diskette.
- Two hard drive surface scan tests (the write and verify test, and the write and read test) save data, perform the tests, then restore the data. If the system loses power, is rebooted, or encounters an unexpected abnormal condition during the testing process, that data may be lost.
These tests provide warnings about potential data destruction before they begin.
